My Encounter With Immortality

This encounter with a man who changed the course of history was perhaps the most dramatic event of Robert O. Harder's life, up to that date. The war in Vietnam was at its height--momentous events were happening all around to young Air Force lieutenants.

The story appeared in the fifth volume of the "We Were Crewdogs" series, edited and published by Tommy Towery, a former B-52 electronic warfare officer. All the stories are written by former B-52 aircrewmen, ranging in topics from the early Cold War through the end of the Vietnam conflict.
